We like to think of our residence halls not as merely where you sleep, eat, and study, but where you live... it's home. We take seriously the importance of community, of building friendships and of creating a supportive environment not just for studying, but for living.
Twenty-two percent of all students (including 91% of freshmen entering in fall quarter) live in campus housing. For entering freshmen, the residence halls offer you the convenience of living within a five-minute bike ride of lecture halls, academic resources, lab facilities and recreational opportunities. Residence hall life eases the transition from living in your parents' home to living on your own, without all the hassles of paying for utilities or preparing meals. With live-in staff to provide guidance and help you network during your first year, you'll be well-prepared to complete your degree in no time!

Technology Resources
To meet students' technological needs, all bedspaces within our residence halls offer high-speed T1 Internet access through ResNet, while campus's Moobilnet offers wireless access. Student Housing's ResNet also provides basic cable television service enhanced by four campus channels offering a variety of movies and interactive review sessions for core classes such as chemistry and math. Computer centers within each area offer residents access to computers, printers and a quiet place to study or hold review sessions. Also available to students is a media resource center, which includes a television studio, editing room and video playback facilities. Residents may apply for internships at the start of each academic year and receive training in all areas of production throughout the year.
Professional Guidance
In addition to the many educational and social activities available to residence hall students, professional academic and leadership coordinators are available to work with residents individually or through programs and events. Residence hall coordinators are knowledgeable about campus resources and can refer residents as needed. Academic Advising Centers within each residence hall area provide convenient academic support from peer advisers and tutors. Peer advisers from each of the academic colleges offer academic planning assistance, internship information and connections to campus resources. Tutors from the Learning Skills Center are available most evenings for free drop-in assistance with freshman math, chemistry and writing courses.
Dining Commons
Dining commons are located within all three residence hall locations. Students can choose from several meal plan options and are free to eat in any of our four dining commons throughout campus. Our award-winning dining rooms are accessible to diners with disabilities and feature multiple restaurant platforms serving traditional bistro items, sauté specialties, grill cuisine, specialty pizzas, Mongolian barbecue, salad bar, vegan and low-calorie choices, and desserts. Menus are planned by a registered dietician and include offerings for a wide variety of palates and cuisines. More than 130 entrees appear on the menu during a six-week period. |
